Vancouver, BC (Aug 2, 2011) \u2013 A July survey of Vancouver residents by Justason Market Intelligence finds Vision Vancouver<\/strong> and the Non-partisan Association (NPA)<\/strong> in a statistical dead heat. Support for Vision Vancouver now stands at 37% of decided municipal voters; support for NPA stands at 32%. Despite the closing of the gap between NPA and Vision, NPA has shown only directional growth (from 28% a year ago), while Vision has fallen steadily (from 52%). Notably, COPE support has reached 24% of decided voters (from 13% a year ago).<\/p>\n

Asked about the close race, \u201cThere is no one reason, like bike lanes or riots,\u201d explains Barb Justason. \u201cIf Suzanne Anton\u2019s candidacy were a factor, NPA support would be growing, but it\u2019s not.\u201d Anton announced her candidacy May 18, 2011. \u201cVision\u2019s fortunes are falling, while COPE\u2019s are rising. But NPA may be the beneficiary, despite very little movement in support.\u201d<\/p>\n

Justason cautions, \u201cThe election is months away and momentum can swing sharply in the final weeks and days.\u201d<\/p>\n
