(30 July&nbsp;2014) \u2013 If Vancouver&#8217;s municipal elections were held today, 59% of likely voters would support Gregor Robertson of Vision Vancouver. Forty-one per cent (41%) would support Kirk LaPointe of the Non-Partisan Association (NPA).<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.justasonmi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Slide032.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4022\" src=\"http:\/\/www.justasonmi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/Slide032.jpg\" alt=\"Slide03\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\"><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Voters&nbsp;most supportive&nbsp;of Vision&#8217;s Gregor Robertson:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Under 45 years (74-75% versus 49-55% among residents 45 and older)<\/li>\n<li>Renters (72% versus 48% among owners)<\/li>\n<li>Regular bicycle commuters&nbsp;(81% versus 59% among infrequent commuters and non-cyclists)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Voters&nbsp;most supportive&nbsp;of NPA&#8217;s Kirk LaPointe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>45 and older (45-51% versus 25-26% among residents under 45 years)<\/li>\n<li>Owners&nbsp;(52% versus 28% among renters)<\/li>\n<li>Infrequent and non-cycling commuters (41% versus 19% among commuters)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why support Gregor Robertson?<\/h3>\n<p>Support for Gregor Robertson is driven by some concern about bringing the NPA back to power and support for Robertson&#8217;s&nbsp;progressive platforms for the environment, cycling and the homeless:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Not the NPA:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Prefer his poor record on development than having the NPA back in power.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Policy on environment sustainability:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;I like the direction Vision is taking the greenest city and looking at the green economy.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Progressive \/ has plan for the City:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;He&#8217;s progressive and thinks into the future.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Urban cycling policy:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Strong support of walking and cycling is commendable and worthy of support.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Helping homeless:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;I support his commitment to working on reducing homelessness.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why support Kirk LaPointe?<\/h3>\n<p>NPA&#8217;s Kirk LaPointe is viewed largely as an alternative to Vision Vancouver, Gregor Robertson and the policies of the current government. Others cite LaPointe&#8217;s vision for the City and his intelligence.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Not Vision \/ Not Gregor Robertson:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Any candidate that opposes Gregor Robertson will have my vote.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Concerned about Robertson&#8217;s policies:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Although I voted for Robertson in the past, I don&#8217;t think he has done a good job. He has his own agenda and doesn&#8217;t care what the citizens of vancouver think.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>For a change:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;Vancouver badly needs change.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>LaPointe&#8217;s intelligence \/ vision:<\/strong> <em>&#8220;He&#8217;s smart, decent, honest and trustworthy. I like his policies of open government and neighbourhood participation and not being beholden to developers or special interest groups.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Municipal party support<\/h2>\n<p>Which municipal party should form the majority in Vancouver&#8217;s City Council?<\/p>\n<p>The largest group supports Vision Vancouver (39%), unchanged since April 2014. One-in-four (24%) support NPA, up from 18% in April.
