Vancouver B.C. (1 May 2014) \u2013 Trust in four key municipal organizations has fallen dramatically since November 2011. Residents’ trust in the Vancouver Police Department<\/strong> (VPD) decreased from a high of 74% in November 2011 to 52 per cent. Even so, the VPD<\/strong> ranks highest among four municipal organizations examined.<\/p>\n

The Vancouver Park Board<\/strong> ranks second (44% trust) and is showing signs of slow growth since September 2013.<\/p>\n

Four-in-ten (40%) residents trust Vancouver’s School Board,<\/strong> which places the organization in third.<\/p>\n

Trust in Vancouver’s municipal government<\/strong> continues at its fourth place trust ranking, and its lowest levels since tracking began.<\/p>\n

Mixed results on municipal government’s scorecard<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Almost two-thirds (65%) of Vancouver residents approve of the municipal government’s maintenance of parks and green spaces<\/strong>. Making Vancouver more environmentally conscious<\/strong> follows closely at 64%.””<\/p>\n

Vancouverites are less approving of improving the Downtown Eastside<\/strong> (42%) and reducing street homelessness<\/strong> (38%), an eight-point decrease since January.<\/p>\n

Note that this poll was taken in the days immediately prior to the release of homelessness numbers.<\/p>\n
