Vancouver, BC (Aug 2, 2011) – A recent survey by Justason Market Intelligence (JMI) finds that approval of the performance of Vancouver’s municipal government is showing signs of weakening. While overall approval remains relatively consistent since May, strong approval on every attribute examined has fallen.

Despite an overall softening of approval numbers, the pollsters note that overall approval continues to be strong for taking care of basics like garbage collection and street cleaning (80% approve). Making Vancouver more environmentally conscious follows very closely with approval from 73%. In the range of 50% approve of the government’s performance on issues like considering the needs of all residents, consulting with the public on neighbourhood issues,  improving the Downtown East Side and reducing street homelessness. The municipal government continues to receive its lowest approval ratings for consulting with the local business community (40%).

The Vancouver Civic Outlook is a regular series sponsored by Justason Market Intelligence surveying City of Vancouver residents.
